On Saturday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County's Agriculture Education Building at the first ever Fall Festival & 4-H Expo at the fairgrounds in Lockport. The building will be utilized for programs that promote agriculture education.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday announced four Western New York communities have been selected to receive up to $10 million in funding from the Buffalo Billion II initiative. The City of Dunkirk, City of North Tonawanda, City of Lackawanna and Village of Gowanda are recipients of Smart Growth Community Funds for projects that utilize existing infrastructure to support placemaking, walkable communities and sustainable development.

The Niagara Power collegiate baseball team entertained kids, families and fans at Sal Maglie Stadium from 2007 to 2015. After two whole summers removed from the New York Collegiate Baseball League, the Power have come back home to Niagara Falls.
On Monday afternoon, representatives from Niagara University and the Niagara Power came together to announce the return of the Power.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined Monday by Commissioner of Central Police Services James Jancewicz, Director of the Erie County STOP-DWI Office John Sullivan, and Chief of the Orchard Park Police Department Mark Pacholec to review driving while intoxicated incidents during the summer months across Erie County. Data from the STOP-DWI office indicates DWI arrests for the period of July 3 through Sept. 17 are down from last year.

The Lewiston Police Department announced Monday it is in receipt of 24 new tactical ballistic vests. Each vest contains a metal plate, weighs close to 30 pounds, and is rated level IV, which is the highest level of protective gear.

The education services company features NU in the 2017 edition of its free book, The Princeton Review Guide to 375 Green Colleges, which was published Sept. 19.

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs on Wednesday announced he secured an allocation of $50,000 in state education dollars for the Northwest Buffalo Community Center (NWBCC). The monies will be used to support the renovation of the education center that provides educational assistance programs for children in grades 1-12.

In certain years its promoted Buffalo, with the maze being designed in a Sabres logo or Bandits logo and more. In 2017, the maze has been designed to the theme "Hometown Heroes."

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper has announced the completion of the Hyde Park Lake living shoreline project, a two-year effort in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls and the Niagara River Greenway Ecological Standing Committee. The project enhanced 600 linear feet of shoreline located near the Rose Garden on the eastern end of Hyde Park Lake.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to announce it is the recipient of an $825,200 grant from the New York State Health Care Facility Transformation Program. Funding will support the expansion of the hospital's Clearview treatment services, a confidential, inpatient rehabilitation program dedicated to the holistic care of people whose lives have been affected by drugs and/or alcohol.

Erie County's Seneca Bluffs Natural Habitat Park on Seneca Street in Buffalo was the site Friday for a multitude of volunteers helping to beautify and protect the park itself and the adjoining waters of the Buffalo River. Personnel from the Erie County environment and planning and parks departments were joined by counterparts from Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, Labatt USA, Pegula Sports Entertainment, the Buffalo Sabres, Try-It Distributing and WNY PRISM to clean up the habitat area, remove invasive species, plant native pollinators and grasses, and place new trees and shrubs at the site.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday announced high-speed, open-road, cashless tolling will begin at the Grand Island toll barriers in March of 2018. The transition to cashless tolling will not affect the Grand Island resident discount program and is designed to reduce congestion, improve safety and reduce air pollution.
