Tears for Fears might not rule the world, but they certainly reigned over Lewiston on Wednesday. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were in prime shape, singing and performing a slew of songs with the same vocal prowess, vim and vigor they displayed when first releasing their hits in the 1980s, '90s and early 2010s.

This weekend, the Niagara Pioneer Soccer League will hold its annual Niagara Pioneer Soccer League International Tournament. Now in its 33rd year, the tournament will offer soccer, soccer and more soccer July 8 and 9 on the fields at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown.

Fourth-graders from Grabiarz School #79 visited the Village of Lewiston and The Silo Restaurant on Tuesday. They are reading "Freedom Crossing" as part of their English Language Arts/social studies curriculum, and were given the chance to visit some of the landmarks up close and personal.

"Live with Kelly and Ryan" visited Niagara Falls, Ontario, over the weekend, and filmed two shows Monday from the Oakes Garden Theatre. Panoramic views of the American and Horseshoe Falls provided the backdrop for both editions of "Live," and the hosts took time to explore some of the popular tourist attractions.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Monday announced $7 million in state funding to assist homeowners who have been impacted by flooding along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The new investment program will provide up to $40,000 for homeowners to support interior and exterior repairs to structural damage caused by flooding, as well as the repair or replacement of permanent fixtures.

The Taste of Buffalo presented by TOPS has announced the complete lineup of restaurants, food trucks and wineries that will participate in the 2017 food festival, which takes place July 8-9 in downtown Buffalo. Sixty-one restaurants will be on site this year along with six New York state wineries.

As the rain flowed Friday in the Village of Lewiston, crowds of people flooded into the tented area of the Smelt Festival. A light shower couldn't deter visitors from coming up to the waterfront and supporting the Niagara River Anglers Association. Under cover, they were quickly able to catch free (paper) boatloads of the tiny, fried fish, and listen to the sounds of 90 West.

For over four decades, Artpark has been a unique destination for new and experimental statements of art, nature and performance. In keeping with that idea this summer, Artpark & Company has announced a concert featuring two visually stunning outdoor spectacles: William Close & The Earth Harp Collective, and "Big Bang" by the French performance group Plasticiens Volants. Macerich's Fashion Outlets Niagara Falls USA recently held its third annual Earth Day Dumpster Mural contest, in partnership with Guard Contracting Corp. The contest featured artwork from two local schools demonstrating their vision of Earth Day. Students created murals on Dumpsters in the Military Road parking lot.
