The event, delayed by the coronavirus outbreak, is taking place in a series of daily mini-performances, with about 145 students divided into separate, small shows. With masks, temperature checks and social distancing, the pandemic brought a new date and a new look to the event. And it brought tears of joy to the eyes of a number of parents.

The New York State Department of State on Tuesday announced the completion of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) project for Scenic Woods-Bicentennial Park in the Town of Grand Island. The completion of the nearly $600,000 project, which was funded in part with a $197,634 EPF LWRP grant, is helping to transform the town's waterfront into a vibrant destination with public spaces and amenities for residents and visitors.

When the first South Grand Island Bridge was constructed in 1935, connecting Tonawanda with Niagara Falls, the New York State Thruway Highway 190 did not exist. Travelers heading north used Grand Island Boulevard as its primary thoroughfare, according to Supervisor John C. Whitney. That is why the former bustling Niagara Falls Visitor Center was built at the corner of Grand Island Boulevard and Staley Road - and why there are so many motels along the boulevard.
