Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced Wednesday that 23-year-old Sammy Abdellatif of Grand Island has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case to eight years in prison and four years post-release supervision for an attack on an Erie County sheriff's deputy.

On Tuesday, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced the selection of 13 municipal projects for inclusion in the Erie County Consortium 2018 Community Development Block Grant application. The submission, which will be sent to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for approval, recommends a total Erie County expenditure of $1,424,434 for the projects, an investment which will leverage $3,331,053 in local funds and in-kind resources.
