Hochul urges New Yorkers to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures & extreme wind chill this weekend

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday urged New Yorkers to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills beginning Friday and continuing through Saturday. Most regions across the state, including Western and Central New York, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Mohawk Valley, North Country, Capital Region and Mid-Hudson, are expected to see temperatures as low as minus-15 degrees and wind chills as low as minus-25 to minus-50 degrees for a period lasting almost 48 hours.
Erie County prepares for bitterly cold weather leading into the weekend

An arctic front will enter Erie County on Thursday evening, bringing strong winds with possible gusts in excess of 40 mph. Low windchills and a burst of moderately heavy snow may cause localized hazardous travel on Thursday evening. These conditions will increase the risks of frostbite and hypothermia for people who spend any time outdoors tonight through Saturday.

Higgins: $450,000 for NFTA regional safety action plan

The Buffalo History Museum has begun collecting photos, videos, objects and audio testimonials from the "Blizzard of 2022." All media and artifacts collected from the community will be preserved in the museum's archives at One Museum Court. This new collection will be available for research and reference, and may be used for future projects, exhibits and programs at the museum.

The Erie County Fair has issued a call for submissions for the inaugural commemorative poster art competition, welcoming artists (ages 18-plus) from across Western New York to submit their vision of the annual event. The chosen design will be the artwork for the 2023 commemorative Erie County Fair poster. The final piece will be unveiled to coincide with the Erie County Fair, which is running Aug. 9-20.

Ukrainian National Orchestra to perform at Houghton University
