The Niagara Falls Culinary Institute will host an American Culinary Federation (ACF) competition from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28. This annual competition is geared toward promoting student and professional cooking excellence, and is open to the public for anyone interested in viewing the action. There is no charge to attend.

I am very fortunate my family can send me to The Summit Center's Building Connections summer program. It is a social skills program. I have attended this wonderful program for six years. It has taught me things such as facial expressions, clarifying directions, even job interviews.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, along with the City of Niagara Falls, broke ground Wednesday on a comfort station that will service parkgoers at DeVeaux Woods State Park.

On April 12, the Lewiston Lions hosted an activity at the Lewiston Event Center for special needs children from Niagara Falls High School. The Lions Club provided bowling, food and fun for a group of more than 45 children and staff.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston begrudgingly adopted the fiscal year 2019-20 budget at a special meeting on Monday. They lauded the number-crunchers - Clerk/Treasurer Amy Salada and Deputy Treasurer Stephanie Myers - but lashed out at the line items.

Artpark and Funtime Presents announce The Flaming Lips with special guests The Claypool Lennon Delirium and Particle Kid were added to the "Coors Light Concerts" series in the Artpark Amphitheater. The July 27 concert is presented by Funtime. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

On March 30, 90 people gathered at the Tuscarora Nation House for a Native American History Symposium sponsored by the Old Fort Niagara Association. The event featured three well-known Native American scholars, and a panel discussion. The program's theme centered on the Native view of Fort Niagara during the 18th and early 19th centuries.

While Lew-Port calculates its anticipated expenditures, it must proceed through budget development without solid numbers from New York on Lew-Port's state aid allocation (revenues).
