From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 10, Dr. Glenda R. Rose and Dr. Thomas G. Barba of Rose Chiropractic P.C. in Lewiston will sponsoring the 28th annual "Doctors with a Heart Day" for their patients. Nonperishable food items will be collected to benefit the Niagara Community Action Program (NiaCAP) food pantry in exchange for chiropractic services.

Town of Porter Supervisor Duffy Johnston recently presented a $15,000 check to Village of Youngstown Mayor Raleigh Reynolds to assist with upkeep of the senior van. The Village of Youngstown and Town of Porter share the van, which takes area seniors to doctor and hospital appointments.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston on Tuesday voted in favor of an expansion to Hibbard's Original Frozen Custard. However, they tabled a request to allow the almost 80-year-old business to add a concrete pad in the right-of-way.

The one-day showcase on Saturday, Feb. 3, will feature four American high school basketball teams taking on four Canadian high school basketball teams. Some of the best talent, locally and nationally, will show off their skills at the Wolvarena.

Year in and year out, the best amateur golfers from around the world storm into Lewiston around the middle of July to play in the Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club. 2018 will be the 60th anniversary of the tournament. A press event Thursday evening announced the stakes will be even higher this year.

Artpark & Company announced Wednesday that The Decemberists (May 26) will perform in a Mainstage Theater event presented by Funtime. Additionally, a co-headlining bill featuring Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats + The Head and The Heart (June 2) will be part of the Coors Light Concerts Series at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater, co-presented by Artpark and Funtime.

Executive Director Sonia Clark has announced a casting call for a new musical production of "The Odyssey" will take place from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at The Kavinoky Theatre on the D'Youville Campus. It's expected the show will feature more than 100 people.

It was a relatively normal day for Buffalo resident Kenneth Lidge as he was nearing the Niagara Falls Airport as a passenger on an Allegiant Airlines flight coming from Tampa to Niagara Falls. Lidge was relaxing in his seat as he returned to Western New York from a cruise.

First, Juanita Finn, winner of one of the Rotary scholarships, told members about her journey from an orphanage in Columbia to an adolescence in Lewiston and on to becoming a biology major at John Carroll University.

The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston presented donations to Mount St. Mary's Hospital Foundation (Washuta Memorial) and Lewiston Police Department during the club's December dinner meeting. Proceeds for these donations were raised though the club's annual clambake, which is held in early June at Kiwanis Park.
