Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announced the Niagara County Sheriff's Office has joined Neighbors, which is Ring's app-based neighborhood watch program. The Neighbors app has the ability to alert users to crime and safety events within a radius of up to 5 miles of their home, and allows them to share videos or information about crime and safety events in their neighborhood anonymously.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday announced large-scale outdoor event venues will only be limited by the space available for patrons or parties of patrons to maintain the required social distance of 6 feet starting May 19. This will apply to outdoor sports, performing arts and live entertainment, and horse and auto racing venues statewide. Appropriate social distancing, masks and other applicable health protocols will still apply.

Three Catholic Health hospitals in Erie and Niagara counties have been recognized by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York for high-quality maternity care as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Sisters of Charity Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston were named Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) for Maternity Care. The three hospitals delivered more than 5,700 babies in 2019.

Catholic Health has again earned the Buffalo Niagara Region's highest cumulative overall score from The Leapfrog Group. In the spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade Report, they earned the only "A" safety grades in Erie and Niagara counties. In fact, Kenmore Mercy and Mount St. Mary's hospitals earned two of the 16 "A" grades given in all of New York.

The Sanborn Historical Society will reopen the Sanborn Farm Museum for small tours of 10 or less people. It will open from 2-4 p.m. May 16 (third Sunday of May), June 20 and July 18. Masks and social distancing are required.

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski announced the Veterans Service Agency would begin in-person office hours at the Trott Access Center in Niagara Falls beginning next week. The Historical Association of Lewiston has published a new hardcover book titled "The Gully Treasure". The book details several aspects of treasure lost during the French and Indian War and how it may have ended up in Lewiston. It was written by local author Lee Simonson and is formatted as a letter to his grandson.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the completion of a $500,000 project replacing a badly deteriorated waterline suspended over Twelve-mile creek in the Town of Wilson. Funded through the governor's Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative, the replacement will help reduce municipal maintenance costs and ensure the homes and businesses served by this town-owned infrastructure will have a reliable supply of water long into the future.

More than 25 student participants from the WNY STEM Hub and AT&T open wheelchair building workshops program were joined by executives from WNY STEM HUB and AT&T at the Health Sciences Charter School to present a local young boy a new motorized wheelchair the students designed, built and donated to help him live a more mobile life.
