Catholic Health secures $58.5m in bond financing to fund new Lockport Memorial Hospital

Catholic Health announced Tuesday it has secured orders from several investors for $58.5 million in bonds to fund construction of its Lockport Memorial Hospital. In addition to the new hospital, which will become a campus of Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara County, the bond financing will support cardiac catheterization room renovations at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and other small infrastructure projects across the system.

SBA: Key policy change to existing COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loan program

On Tuesday, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, directed the SBA to provide additional deferment of principal and interest payments for existing COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program borrowers. That makes a total of 30 months deferment from inception on all approved COVID-19 EIDL loans.
Local Women United collecting goods for mothers & babies

The Trews to headline Youngstown's Village Music Fest

Barry Entertainment will present the third annual Village Music Fest from noon until 10 p.m. Aug. 6 at Veterans Park in Youngstown. Canadian Rock band The Trews will headline a show that features 10 local and regional bands, including Melissa Barry & Element, Grub, No Vacancy, Scott Celani, and Tonemah. The all-day event will also feature more than 30 vendors and artisans for shopping, a beer and wine tent, games, food trucks and a petting zoo.

Red Cross testing blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies

For a limited time, the American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for coronavirus antibodies. Plasma from routine donations that have high levels of antibodies may be used as convalescent plasma to help meet the needs of COVID-19 patients with weakened immune systems.

Memorial Medical Center updates patient visitation

Niagara Falls Police investigating Pine Avenue shooting

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1600 block of Pine Avenue for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, patrol officers located the 29-year-old victim who had been shot in the upper arm.
Memorial now offering in-house dialysis to patients

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is now offering in-house dialysis service to medical center patients. Inpatient dialysis treatment will now be administered by Memorial staff throughout the medical center's campus, eliminating the need for an outside renal contractor.

NCCC Film & Animation Festival returns to campus

Lewiston marks two years since shutdown with return of 'Sip. Shop. Eat!'

Participants "Sip" and "Shop" from 1-5 p.m., and "Eat," well, whenever they're hungry! They collect a punch card at designated gold star balloon businesses; stop into any of the participating sites along Center Street, which will be marked with star balloons (red - "Sip" and "Shop"; blue - "Sip" and "Eat"); take a look around to see what's inside, and get the punch card punched. No purchase is necessary - but purchases are always appreciated.
