On Thursday afternoon, student-athletes, family, friends, coaches and staff gathered in Niagara-Wheatfield High School's ALC to honor multiple athletes that signed letters of intent to extend their athletic careers into college.
In all, 17 students were honored and Niagara-Wheatfield Athletic Director Matthew McKenna praised the hard work of the signees recognized. He also noted his background as a father and praised the parents of the athletes who were there.
"It's a culminating activity ... I can tell it's a proud moment for all of you and, very well, it should be. There's a lot of time and effort that goes into getting your son or daughter to this point; to have them sign on that dotted line, finally. It should be a tremendous honor," McKenna said.
The signees posed for a group picture, as well as individual photos with family, friends and coaches during the ceremony. Following the signings, attendees were welcomed by punch and cookies, as well as time to take any last minute photos. Further listed are the student-athletes who signed, their sport and college of choice, as well as their picture below with family, coaches and McKenna.
