Thanks to an anonymous donor, more than 100 Lew-Port Youth Football players are receiving a safety upgrade for their helmets. New Guardian Caps placed on the helmets are meant to better absorb shock and help prevent concussions. The Georgia-based Guardian company notes its padded, shell-like coverings are “worn by 500,000-plus athletes nationwide to reduce impact during practice and in games.”
