Fri, Nov 10th 2023 03:30 pm

Tops Friendly Markets is again hosting its “Food 2 Families” campaign. Now in its 19th year, the program’s goal is to provide more than 2 million meals for neighbors in need.

A press release stated, “As Tops launches its ‘Food 2 Families’ campaign, Nov. 12 through Dec. 24, 2023, we ask that you consider making a donation the next time you shop in store or online.”

It continued, “Tops ‘Food 2 Families’ campaign is synonymous with the ‘Little Brown Bag of Hope.’ Customers can easily purchase a ‘Little Brown Bag of Hope’ paper icon at the register anytime they shop. At the register, customers will be asked if they want to support the campaign by buying a $5, $10 and/or $20 bag for someone in need in our community or to round up their change. Little brown bags, which are filled with nutritious items that will help families extend their meal planning, can also be purchased at any self-scan register.”

Virtual “Little Brown Bags of Hope” will also be available for purchase online by visiting https://www.topsneighborshelpingneighbors.com/. Here, customers can select what food bank they wish their donation to benefit.

Tops will host a one-day food drive Friday, Dec. 1, and the company noted, “Our volunteers are happy to accept your donation from the trunk of your vehicle.”

Donations can be made throughout the day at the following Tops Friendly Market locations:

√ 5827 S. Transit Road, Lockport

√ 7200 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls

√ 3980 Maple Road, Amherst

√ 4777 Transit Road, Depew

√ 6150 S. Park Ave., Hamburg

√ 2101 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo

FeedMore WNY President and CEO Tara A. Ellis said, "FeedMore WNY is deeply grateful for the steadfast partnership of Tops Friendly Markets. The annual ‘Food 2 Families’ drive with Tops and WGRZ-TV Channel 2 enables FeedMore WNY to provide nutritious food and critical resources to Western New York community members of all ages experiencing food insecurity. The holiday season should be a time to gather with loved ones, and not a time to worry about where your next meal will come from. We appreciate the support of Tops, WGRZ and the WNY community through ‘Food 2 Families,’ so our neighbors in need can receive nourishment and hope during the holidays and into the new year."
