“Party on the Plaza” is a free, outdoor community event on the Aquarium of Niagara’s welcome plaza, Whirlpool Commons. It will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 (or Aug. 9, if it rains), at 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls.
The Aquarium of Niagara will be joined by several community and cultural partners, including New York State Parks, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, Hawk Creek Wildlife Center, and Niagara Falls Police and Fire departments. Guests can enjoy access to information about community resources, family-friendly games and activities, face painting, music and snacks, as the sun sets over the Niagara Gorge.
“Party on the Plaza” is presented by Niagara Falls National Heritage Area.
A press release explained, “Completed in June 2022, Whirlpool Commons is an interactive, public, outdoor space that includes a presentation area, audio-visual equipment, seating, and a dynamic shade structure. The plaza has already effectively served to enhance community access to the outdoors, encourage local engagement with the Aquarium’s mission and conservation efforts, and deliver year-round educational programming that promotes healthy and sustainable living.
“Programming like ‘Party on the Plaza’ directly represents the Aquarium’s efforts to execute its strategic goals to build community locally and regionally, become a quality-of-life resource for our neighbors, and create a more welcoming environment for all. Last year’s event welcomed 300 guests, connecting them with valuable community partners and the Aquarium.”
