Get ready to lose those winter blues! The Lewiston Council on the Arts’ “Toast & Jam” begins in a new location, Tin Pan Alley, 775 Cayuga St., at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. Now in its 21st year, this jazz-jamming, blues-rocking, poetry-reading event returns by popular demand and continues every Monday through March 16.
Singer-songwriter Dale Campbell hosts the six-week series of open mic entertainment, which is open to all singers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers, comics and performance artists. Performers sign up as they arrive, and play on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Most of the people who perform are not professionals. They do it for the love of it," Campbell said. "By the end of the night, it feels like a sing-along at a friend's house."
Some performers are really good, others are just there to have fun.
Tin Pan Alley has been a supporter of the Lewiston Council on the Arts for many years and has sponsored a free breakfast open to all the artists in the Lewiston Art Festival.
The LCA stated, “Regardless of the occasion, everyone loves the delicious food and warm atmosphere that is the signature of Tin Pan Alley!”
Highlights from “Toast & Jam” are featured throughout the year on LCTV, so performers are invited to take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy a moment in the spotlight.
“Toast & Jam” is sponsored by Tin Pan Alley, LCTV and Cataract Printing Co. For more information, call 716-754-0166 or visit [email protected].
