Shadow day at Niagara Falls Culinary Institute gives potential students hands-on experience

The Niagara Falls Culinary Institute is known for giving its students a hands-on learning experience that prepares them for careers in hospitality, culinary arts, and baking and pastry arts. A new initiative will now give potential students the opportunity to connect with current students and faculty, having a hands-on experience of their own through a shadow program.

Tops Friendly Markets has raised $11,950 as a result of its gingerbread house campaign for Oishei Children's Hospital. The fundraiser, which kicked off Dec. 1, welcomed families to purchase a gingerbread house kit at locations throughout the region, with a portion of the proceeds being donated back to the hospital. The kits came complete with gingerbread to build a house, sweet candy decorations, and delicious icing.
