The Buffalo City Mission on Tuesday hosted its Thanksgiving community meal for the area's elderly, impoverished and shut-ins. This annual tradition provides a robust and festive holiday gathering where staff, volunteer individual and organizations, and members of the homeless community come together in the spirit of fellowship, unity and Thanksgiving.
Turkey drop-offs came from community supporters, followed by a dinner of hot turkey and all of the trimmings prepared and served by City Mission staff and volunteers.
The India Association of Buffalo was the proud sponsor of the event.
This is the latest in the City Mission's month-long community engagement in the spirit of the holiday season, which includes the annual Turkey drive to raise 2,000 donated turkeys before Thanksgiving. This will culminate in "Turkey Express" deliveries on Thanksgiving.
