24-hour CreateAthon kicks off Aug. 23

J. Fitzgerald Group work to benefit nine area nonprofits starts at 8 a.m. Aug. 23
Nine nonprofit organizations from across Western New York are set to receive free advertising and marketing services during CreateAthon, kicking off at 8 a.m. next Thursday, Aug. 23, at J. Fitzgerald Group in Lockport. 
The day starts with an initial brainstorming session to discuss concepts and ideas for each of the beneficiary nonprofits. The staff of JFG, joined by a group of other volunteers, then sets the clock in motion and works straight through for 24 hours to create a wide variety of marketing materials and collateral. This year, across the nine organizations, the CreateAthon team will create logos, brochures, advertisements, email templates, posters, TV/radio scripts, billboards, communication strategies, website updates, social media campaigns and other needed pieces.
At the conclusion of the marathon work session, all created work is presented to the selected nonprofit groups starting at 8 a.m. Aug. 24.
The nine regional nonprofit organizations receiving free advertising and marketing services as part of CreateAthon 2018 are:
Held annually, CreateAthon is part of a national effort to give back to local communities. This year marks the 11th year JFG has participated in the 24-hour marketing blitz, the only event of its kind in Western New York.
Following an online application process, each CreateAthon applicant was evaluated for inclusion based on audience reach, the ability of services to make an impact on the nonprofit organization and the communities they serve, and the scope of each organization's financial need.

The CreateAthon program is a 24-hour creative blitz during which advertising agencies and design firms work on a pro-bono basis for nonprofit organizations.
