The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will present the first "Exceptional Holiday Concert" of the season at 10:15 a.m. this morning in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo.
This concert serves individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Designed in consultation with special education professionals, the concert features a lot of interactivity and variety. This is the third year the BPO is offering the "Exceptional Holiday Concert." The program has proved popular enough for the BPO to add a second date on Dec. 12. Tuesday's performance will be attended by special-needs children from the Buffalo Public Schools.
The concert coincides with Giving Tuesday, a global social media-based charitable giving initiative held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year. This year, the BPO is asking the public to help support the "Exceptional Holiday Concerts" to allow the orchestra to continue serving more people with special needs.
Lawley has promised to match up to $1,000 worth of gifts. Anyone interested in supporting the concert can donate at bpo.org.
