The Queen City Roller Girls' travel team, the Lake Effect Furies, have been searching for the best chili the area has to offer. Spicy, savory or sweet; meat lovers or strictly vegetarian - that's OK; these roller derby skaters want it all.

Join the Lake Effect Furies Saturday, Feb. 8, for their annual chili cook-off from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at Appliance Associates of Buffalo (200 Amherst St.). Tickets are $10 and include tastings of all of the chili.

There will be awards for the best chili in these categories.

•Best Overall Chili - winner receives a trophy, Furies T-shirt and two tickets to next Furies home bout.

•Meat Lovers - winner receives a trophy and two tickets to next Furies home bout.

•Veggie Delight - winner receives a trophy and two tickets to next Furies home bout.

•Flying Bison's Favorite - winner receives a six-pack of Flying Bison beer and two tickets to next Furies home bout.

And when you need a break from all the fabulous chili and beer, there will be basket and 50/50 raffles.
