The Niagara Junior Purple Eagles Squirt Select team earned the runner-up spot in its division in the Jamestown Mid-Winter Classic Tournament last weekend.
The team won 5-1 against a team from Pittsburg, the Butler-Valley Dawgs-Silberman. Next, the Junior Purple Eagles defeated another Butler Valley team, Folmer, by a score of 6-2. Finally, the Junior Purple Eagles posted a 9-0 shutout win over the Armstrong-Arrows Brison team, also from Pittsburg, to earn a place in the championship game on Presidents Day.
The Junior Purple Eagles were narrowly defeated by the Hamburg Hawks. Initially down by three goals, the Eagles came back to score two goals in the third period, before falling by a final score of 3-2.
