On Tuesday, the Buffalo City Mission and Lloyd Taco Truck hosted the 10th annual “Christmas in July Luncheon” at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise. The event provided nearly 200 meals, which were given to the men’s ministry at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise and the women’s ministry located at Buffalo City Mission’s Cornerstone Manor. All meals were donated in full by Lloyd Taco Truck.

“Thank you to our friends at Lloyd Taco Truck/Factory for donating this wonderful meal,” said Aubrey Calhoun, executive director and CEO of the Buffalo City Mission. “Now in our 10th year, the ‘Christmas in July’ community meal is a strong reminder that the giving spirit we all celebrate throughout Christmas doesn’t start and stop in December – it is something we must carry with us all year long.”

“Supporting Western New York through good food that also does good is all part of what makes Lloyd who we are,” said Pat Fisher, marketing manager of Lloyd Product Inc. “We’re honored to have partnered with City Mission for the last 10 years and many more to come.”

Now in its 10th year, the “Christmas in July Luncheon” is an annual contribution from Lloyd to Buffalo City Mission. This year’s event included three different burrito options prepared and served by an on-site Lloyd Taco Truck. Cornerstone Manor meals were made in advance and delivered to the organization for its lunch and dinner service.

The Buffalo City Mission provides individuals across Western New York a second chance by addressing the root causes of homelessness and poverty. Through education, skill classes, counseling and spiritual guidance, men, women and children are given a new way forward.
