Last week’s inclement weather had Ransomville Speedway management quickly coming up with a plan to get the 2023 season underway for the “Big R” and “Little R.”

Weather-permitting, Ransomville Speedway will host a practice session and pre-tech for all divisions on Wednesday, May 3. Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. and cars will be on the track at 7 p.m.

Then on Friday, as part of the 65th season opener, time trials will take place to set the front row of each division to receive their contingency awards.

The polesitter for the Krown Undercoating Modifieds and the Investor’s Service Sportsman will receive a drum of VP Race Fuel, the “Official Fuel of the Big R.” Drivers who clock in position No. 2 for both the Modifieds and Sportsman will receive a certificate good for one new tire courtesy of Hoosier Racing Tires. The polesitter in the KiPo Motors Street Stocks will receive a race tire, while the outside polesitter will receive a free pit entry. The front row for both the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman will each receive a free pit entry.

On Friday, pit gates will open at 5 p.m., with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. Racing will get underway at 7:15 p.m.

The “Little R” will get its season going with a test and tune session on Thursday, May 4. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with karts on track by 7 p.m., after going through safety tech. Teams are encouraged to have both their one-way radios and transponders, so it’s a smooth transition to get the transponder scoring system running.

The karts will also be having a practice session on Sunday, May 7, as well as the kart driving school for all new kart racers. Gates will open at 8 a.m. Sunday with the Kart Driving School, taught by veteran racers and champions Ryan Susice and Greg Martin, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and then open practice for all karts from 1-3 p.m.
