CSEA donates to Tuscarora Nation Elementary School

CSEA Unit 7650 recently hosted a back-to-school drive to collect and distribute free school supplies to families in need. During the months of July and August, union members collected items including backpacks, tissue, pencil pouches, crayons, colored pencils, pens, pencils, folders, paper, notebooks and binders for Tuscarora Nation Elementary School students.

Town of Niagara Active Hose was the scene of a mega meat and basket raffle to benefit Francis Center, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis at Stella Niagara. More than $3,000 worth of beef, pork, chicken and fish was up for grabs at the mid-October event, in addition to dozens of themed baskets.

The event, enjoyed by many participants, raised $360 - and attendees also donated nonperishable food to benefit the Neighbors Foundation.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced State Police and local law enforcement will be out in force through Halloween in order to crack down on impaired and reckless driving. The enforcement period begins Friday, Oct. 27, and runs through Tuesday, Oct. 31. It is funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee.
Registration now open for household hazardous waste collection event in NT

Niagara County Legislator Randy Bradt announced registration is now open for the county's next household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, in North Tonawanda.
