Niagara County Department of Health seeks residents to participate in public health preparedness access and functional needs exercise

The Niagara County Department of Health will be conducting an exercise to help practice and ensure readiness for the next public health emergency. The exercise is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Doris W. Jones Family Resource Building, 3001 Ninth St., Niagara Falls.

Artpark & Company held its annual meeting at The Buffalo Club on Oct. 18. Senior leadership - President Sonia Clark and Vice President Dave Wedekindt - reported to the board of directors on the organization's highlights and accomplishments for its 50th season. The 2023 campaign featured 189 events, workshops and programs that served nearly 100,000 visitors. Artpark & Company's estimated economic impact to the region was $9.7 million.

Congressman Brian Higgins welcomed the news that the government of Canada is giving owners affected by the Underused Housing Tax until April 30, 2024, to file 2022 taxes without penalties. The announcement of the extension comes days after Higgins, who serves as co-chair of the Northern Border Caucus, called for a suspension of tax collection until the findings of a cost-benefit analysis and a House of Commons report are released.
