The Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) will bring its 151st annual convention to Niagara Falls, from Aug. 8-12 at the Sheraton Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls Convention Center. Almost 1,000 people, including volunteer firefighters and their guests from across New York state, vendors and visiting dignitaries, will attend the convention and related events.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will offer extended hours at state swimming facilities during the current heat wave as a way to help New Yorkers beat the heat. The extended hours will begin Thursday and continue through Saturday at select locations. This follows the governor's announcement of forecasted dangerous heat and high heat indices throughout the state.

Paramount+ recently revealed the upcoming ninth episode of season two of its hit original series "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" will be a musical themed episode, the first ever in "Star Trek" franchise history. The reveal was made during the "Star Trek" universe presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Rolik Walker, 25, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to transmitting an interstate threat, before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.

On Tuesday, the Buffalo City Mission and Lloyd Taco Truck hosted the 10th annual "Christmas in July Luncheon" at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise. The event provided nearly 200 meals, which were given to the men's ministry at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise and the women's ministry located at Buffalo City Mission's Cornerstone Manor. All meals were donated in full by Lloyd Taco Truck.
