Youngstown Presbyterian Church presents free play performances for its bicentennial

Youngstown First Presbyterian Church invites the community to "We Gather Together," a one-act play with music that features the church's 200-year history in under one hour. Free performances will happen at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30, at 100 Church St., Youngstown. It will be followed by free, old-time ice cream socials.
'Badges on the Border' international torch run to benefit Special Olympics NY

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) will pass through Niagara County on Wednesday, Sept. 13, as the "Flame of Hope" makes its way around the state in support of Special Olympics New York. "Badges on the Border" will start at the Niagara Falls Discovery Center, travel down to Main Street and Rainbow Boulevard, to Fourth Street and Niagara Street.
Celebrate 'Christmas at the Lighthouse'

Attorney General James secures agreement with insulin maker Novo Nordisk to cap insulin prices for uninsured New Yorkers

New York Attorney General Letitia James on Friday secured an agreement with one of the nation's largest insulin manufacturers, Novo Nordisk Inc. (Novo Nordisk), to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for five years. The agreement also requires Novo Nordisk to implement a program with pharmacies to let uninsured patients know before they pay that they are eligible for the insulin cap.

Niagara County student internship program begins Sept. 19

The Niagara County Legislature internship program is set to begin Sept. 19, and there are still some openings available for students who attend any Niagara County high schools. The program, run by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County (CCE-Niagara), goes from September to February and is a commitment of about two evenings a month.

She creates her clocks with a technique called fluid art. Fluid art is an abstract painting technique that involves the use of fluid art mediums, such as acrylic paints.

As part of the National Federation of Just Communities national conference in Buffalo this week, members on Wednesday took a daytrip to Lewiston. Their tour bus stopped at the Freedom Crossing Monument on Water Street, and they were greeted by Sally and Josiah Tryon (aka Eva Nicklas and Tim Henderson). The two Lewiston legends recounted tales of first coming to the village, efforts to lead people to freedom, and the story behind Susan Geissler's famed bronze statue.
