Hochul signs legislation to crack down on telemarketers

Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed legislation (A4456/S4617) to "crack down on telemarketers and safeguard New Yorkers from continuous, unwanted calls," her team said. "This legislation will help curb calls by nearly doubling the fine for telemarketers violating the Do Not Call Registry."

Gov. Kathy Hochul updated New Yorkers on the CDC's approval last night of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, and urged New Yorkers to get the shot once it is available later this week. The 2023-24 vaccine, previously authorized by the federal Food and Drug Administration, is expected to be available at pharmacies and physicians' offices, as well as other health care providers, throughout New York in the coming days.

State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor John B. King, Jr. and Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) President and CEO Reuben R. McDaniel announced DASNY's first-ever issuance of sustainability bonds on behalf of SUNY to support its residence hall program. DASNY issued approximately $113 million SUNY dormitory facilities revenue bonds with a sustainability designation.

New York Attorney General Letitia James on Friday secured an agreement with one of the nation's largest insulin manufacturers, Novo Nordisk Inc. (Novo Nordisk), to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for five years. The agreement also requires Novo Nordisk to implement a program with pharmacies to let uninsured patients know before they pay that they are eligible for the insulin cap.
