New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos reminds New Yorkers of the start of the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning. Since 2009, DEC has enforced the annual brush-burning ban from March 16 through May 14 to prevent wildfires and protect communities during heightened conditions for wildfires.

This traffic enforcement detail will run Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 17. It is funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee.
