NT artist's Ad Age cover submission a window to future success

North Tonawanda native and (now) Buffalo State College graduate Crista Sukennik was recently a finalist for Ad Age magazine's "Young Creatives Cover Competition." Sukennik was one of nine finalists selected out of over 350 submissions from professional artists and industry professionals all over the globe.

Speaking to reporters on a conference call Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said New York is in "the second half of the game" - hopefully - with regard to fighting the coronavirus. He said local health departments need to prepare for flu season while not detracting from COVID-19 testing and tracing. Moreover, he said schools need to have a plan to mitigate a possible spread of the virus once campus doors reopen.

At last week's North Tonawanda Common Council meeting, a proposed resolution from Alderman-at-Large Austin Tylec to establish a "fiscal stability committee," which he said would be "tasked with developing and implementing the changes recommended by New York state auditors," was shut down by the council.

In response to a blistering audit from the New York State Comptroller's office, City of North Tonawanda Accountant Jeffrey Zellner addressed the council Tuesday night and refuted some of the audit's findings. He also referred to the audit as being "politically motivated" and criticized the auditors themselves as being "unprofessional."
