Village of Lewiston votes to increase water rate to offset new charges

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston voted Monday to approve a motion increasing the municipal water rate 8 cents - from $3.95 to $4.03 per 100 cubic feet of usage - effective Jan. 1, 2023. Mayor Anne Welch stressed this action is the result of an equal rate increase from the Niagara County Water District.

The Lewiston-Porter graduate will face Alexander Hernandez on Dec. 10 in "Ultimate UFC 282," a mixed-martial arts card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will broadcast on ESPN pay-per-view.

When Healing Earth CBD opened in the summer of 2021, public response "was very, very positive," co-owner Brandon Rush said. "You know, obviously there's a huge issue with education. A lot of people come in, and they don't know the difference between marijuana and hemp. They don't know what the difference between CBD and what THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is, or what it does to the body. So, we spend a lot of time educating customers. But I think, overall, it's been a very positive customer experience. I mean, we've done very well; we're obviously still in business."

In addition, people could buy lunch, prepared by the center's cook, or they could buy baked goods, prepared by members of the Golden Age Center.
