It was only fitting that, after two years waiting to reopen Brewed & Bottled Craft Beer Shop, owner Chris Budde watched as nearly 2 feet of snow landed on Lewiston just three days after he welcomed customers back.

Niagara Pride holding 2nd annual winter sock drive to benefit WNY homeless

Niagara Pride is hosting its second annual winter sock drive to benefit local homeless. The organization seeks donations of new socks, undergarments, T-shirts and personal hygiene items, which will be given to local homeless shelters and other agencies.

Situated in the heart of the village at the southwest corner of South Fifth and Plain streets, the house consists of two wings. The first wing, or north section (along Plain), is a large rectangular wing with a center chimney built in 1817 by David Smith. He was the minister for the first Religious Society in Lewiston, first minister of the Presbyterian Church, and also a founder for the first Episcopal congregation.

Fire companies respond to blazes in Falls, Barker

On Friday, the Niagara Falls Fire Department received a call at 11 a.m. regarding a possible structure fire at 510 6th St. Upon arrival, crews found a two-and-a-half story home with heavy smoke and flames visible from the second floor.

Lewiston Board approves rezoning PUD for Northridge Drive

As part of its final audit/regular meeting session of 2021 last week, the Lewiston Town Board opened with a public hearing en route to moving on a conceptual plan for an existing planned unit development. The action included a rezoning of the land area from R-1 (single family residential) to PUD status on Northridge Drive and Ridge Road, and now allows for an additional 10 units to the Northridge Drive apartments complex.

'Winter Warriors' event at Old Fort Niagara highlights winter survival skills

On Saturday, Jan. 15, Old Fort Niagara presents "Winter Warriors," a day of family-oriented programming focusing on how people survived on the 18th century frontier during the winter months. From 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., visitors can learn how soldiers and Native Americans traveled hundreds of miles through sub-zero temperatures to conduct raids on enemy settlements.

HPC, Planning boards table urgent care proposal

A proposal to build a new structure on vacant land at 860 Center St., Lewiston, was tabled Monday by both the Historic Preservation Commission and Planning Commission. This action was at the request of architect Jim Fittante, who said his client needs additional time to consider crafting a structure more in keeping with the village's preferred aesthetic.

$45 million in funding to propel recovery of nonprofit arts & culture sector
