As of Aug. 20, the Care-n-Share Food Pantry is relocating to 3745 Ransomville Road (Jill's Play Yard). Care-n-Share serves the needs of residents from Ransomville, Lewiston, Youngstown, Wilson and Sanborn. It's moving to a larger space just up the road from its current site.

The Walk for Kidney Health will return to the Buffalo Outer Harbor on Sunday, Aug. 21. The annual event is an opportunity for the community to show support for people with kidney disease, share health information and honor organ donors. The walk is this year's main fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation of Western New York.

Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced the launch of the intellectual and developmental disabilities advisory council, which is designed to strengthen the capacity of both the domestic violence and the intellectual and developmental disability systems to increase access to domestic violence services for individuals with IDD who are also survivors of domestic violence. Through the advisory council, the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council will work together to develop and implement skills training for intellectual and developmental disability and domestic violence service providers.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, Niagara Falls Police and Niagara Falls Fire departments responded to an address in the 500 block of 19th Street for a report of an unresponsive male. The 59-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound and was deceased at the scene.

The Western New York Shelby and Mustang Club will host the Nickel City Mustang Roundup July 29-31 at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel at 1340 Millersport Highway in Amherst. More than 400 cars are expected in the show, with some coming from as far away as California. Organizers said spectator turnout of 2,500 is expected during the course of the event.

The new disc golf course that opened at the beginning of summer in Royalton Ravine Park appears to be a huge hit with Niagara County residents, according to Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill. This is the second disc course opened by Niagara County Parks, with the original located in Burmaster Park at Bond Lake.
