Cuomo, Hochul announce start of Aquarium of Niagara penguin exhibit

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Friday announced the groundbreaking of a $3.3 million penguin exhibit at the Aquarium of Niagara. This exhibit will allow the aquarium to add new programming and interactive features to the already popular attraction, while providing a state-of-the-art habitat for the colony of Humboldt penguins.

On behalf of the Historical Association of Lewiston and its board of directors, happy birthday Sentinel! The Sentinel's first edition was issued Feb. 14, 1987, and actually had the title of "We Need A Name!" It was since that very first edition that the HAL started its long relationship with the Sentinel, when we placed our member meeting notice in it for a historian to speak about the history of Lundy's Lane.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Monday announced the grand opening of the new, $37 million DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in downtown Niagara Falls. The project, which included the demolition of a portion of the former Fallside Hotel and Conference Center, along with the renovation of a four-story section of the building, connects to a newly constructed nine-story tower.

Joseph Cecconi, a native of Youngstown, competed on Team USA for the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Hockey Tournament in Montreal. He was one of 23 players from around the U.S. who competed, and brought home the gold by defeating Team Canada in a final 5-4 shootout victory on Jan. 5.
