The Buffalo Collegiate Charter School board of trustees voted unanimously to withdraw its charter renewal application to the State University of New York, meaning the school will close in June after five years of operation.

Price Rite Marketplace and the University at Buffalo football program donated 24 "sacks" of food to the New Beginnings Food Pantry this week. The donation is a result of the organizations' annual "Sack Hunger" campaign, designed to help tackle food insecurity in the Amherst community.

Niagara County Community College was awarded nearly $39,000 from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to aid in the stabilization of the child care sector. The college used this grant to expand the John R. Oishei Childhood Development Center on the Sanborn campus, making room for a space dedicated to caring for infants.

For the second consecutive year, Villa Maria College will host "VillaCon," a one-day convention featuring gaming, cosplay, animation, film, vendors and artists. This year's con will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 25, on Villa Maria's campus, located at 240 Pine Ridge Road, Buffalo. Last year's inaugural event drew more than 500 people from across Western New York, and the college expects this year's event to attract even more people.

The Erie County Agricultural Society (ECAS) is accepting applications for scholarships for 2023. There will be $40,000 in monies awarded to deserving high school seniors and college students up to their junior year.
