N-W wrestling room dedicated to 'Ace'

When people think of legendary Niagara-Wheatfield coaches, some names stand out, but none more than Armand "Ace" Cacciatore.  With a resume packed full of accolades, Cacciatore further etched himself into the N-W history books, as the school's wrestling room was dedicated in his name last Wednesday.
Wheatfield Business Association awards 3 Scholarships & 2 members win awards

The Wheatfield Business Association presented three Niagara-Wheatfield High School students with $300 scholarships at its previous meeting. The 2019 scholarship recipients are Nicole Guldin, Sarah LoCurto and Quinn Darlak.

Marlee McCabe wears many hats as public relations assistant at Niagara County Community College, and taking photographs at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.  McCabe is frequently seen behind the lens of her Nikon camera, capturing instructors teaching the next generation of culinary professionals, and showcasing the delicious fruits of their labor. Her images often leave people hungry for more, and NFCI said it's happy to oblige.

Ten schools from Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties were recently selected to participate in the 26th annual Kenny Awards at Shea's Performing Arts Center. For Niagara-Wheatfield students it was their first time attending, and a memorable one at that. 
Wrestling stars coming to region

Empire State Wrestling returns to St. Johnsburg Firehall, 7165 Ward Road, on Saturday, June 29, for "Temperature Rising." Pre-sale general admission tickets are $15. Tickets increase $5 on the day of the event. Front and second row tickets are sold out. Doors open at 5 p.m. with bell-time at 6 p.m. "Temperature Rising" will air live on Twitch and be recorded for ESW's streaming service partners. 
St. John Lutheran graduates 8th-grade class

Last year, Niagara-Wheatfield High School alumni who graduated 50-plus years ago formed a committee to plan a multi-class reunion. The reunion, which was held in August, was a huge success, so the committee decided to continue the tradition this year.

Guests are asked to meet near "The Hatch" at 329 Erie St. The event is open to NCCC alumni, NCCC employees, and friends of the college. Proceeds will support the NCCC Alumni Association.

Senior Warren McDougald from Niagara-Wheatfield High School was awarded The Destroyer Award, Monday night at the annual Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Award dinner in Blasdell. The award is named after the late professional wrestler Dick Beyer, who passed away in March.
