Niagara University to host first Niagara County Girls in Sports Day on Sept. 21

Girls between the ages of 9-12 residing in Niagara County are invited to participate in the Western New York Girls in Sports Day, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, on the Niagara University campus. The event will give girls of all skill levels the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of sports at stations managed by coaches and female student-athletes from Niagara University and Niagara County Community College.

Canisius College receives grant to provide exercise program for children with autism spectrum disorder

Canisius College was awarded a $25,000 grant to support "The GRIFFit High-Intensity Exercise Program for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Western New York" from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Legacy Fund administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.

Orleans/Niagara BOCES recently announced that Workforce Development Case Manager Rhonda Bivins-Talley, MS.Ed, has been recognized by the LaSalle Educational Club Inc. She received the Community Service Award at the 50th annual awards banquet, whose theme was "Why Should We Give Back."

NCCC 1 of 8 in New York to receive state library award

The Henrietta G. Lewis Library on the campus of Niagara County Community College serves as a repository for Niagara County regional history, and thanks to a conservation/preservation discretionary grant from the New York State Library, artifacts from this collection will be better preserved with improved access.  The $8,482 grant was one of eight of this nature awarded across the state.

100 years of teaching excellence at NCCC

When Niagara County Community College was created in 1962, the original campus was located in downtown Niagara Falls at the former Nabisco Shredded Wheat plant. By 1973, NCCC had moved to its permanent location to Sanborn, at the intersection of Route 31 (Saunders Settlement Road) and Route 429 (Townline Road).

Marlee McCabe wears many hats as public relations assistant at Niagara County Community College, and taking photographs at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.  McCabe is frequently seen behind the lens of her Nikon camera, capturing instructors teaching the next generation of culinary professionals, and showcasing the delicious fruits of their labor. Her images often leave people hungry for more, and NFCI said it's happy to oblige.

Ten schools from Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties were recently selected to participate in the 26th annual Kenny Awards at Shea's Performing Arts Center. For Niagara-Wheatfield students it was their first time attending, and a memorable one at that. 
Wrestling stars coming to region

Empire State Wrestling returns to St. Johnsburg Firehall, 7165 Ward Road, on Saturday, June 29, for "Temperature Rising." Pre-sale general admission tickets are $15. Tickets increase $5 on the day of the event. Front and second row tickets are sold out. Doors open at 5 p.m. with bell-time at 6 p.m. "Temperature Rising" will air live on Twitch and be recorded for ESW's streaming service partners.
