Many of the Orleans/Niagara BOCES career and technical education (CTE) classes encourage students to accept either shadowing (non-paid internships) or capstoning (paid internships) opportunities. Work Based Coordinator Susan Francis says these experiences are invaluable to CTE students.

Dr. Carrie Teresa Isard, chair and associate professor of communication studies at Niagara University, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Klein-Carnell Rising Scholar Award. The new honor recognizes a graduate of Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication whose scholarly achievements within the first seven years since graduation indicate promise of a major research career in any field relevant to communication or media.

AAA is proud to celebrate its school safety patrol program's centennial anniversary. For 100 years, patrollers around the world have provided school-aged children an extra sense of safety and security when going to and from school. The program and its more than 440 Lifesaving Award recipients have contributed to the steady decline of U.S. student pedestrian (ages 5-14) deaths - a 24% decrease since 2010.

The adult education program is the recipient of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant that will allow it to coordinate and integrate the delivery of education, workforce and social services for out-of-school youth.

Nearly 1 million packages of Girl Scout cookies have landed in Western New York for the "mega drop" event. From March 3-6, Girl Scout volunteers will fill their vehicles with cookies to prepare their troops' orders. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday released updated guidance for infection rates and testing protocols on college campuses. Colleges and universities testing at least 25% of total on-campus students, faculty and staff weekly will not be required to go on "PAUSE" unless their positivity rate exceeds 5% during a rolling 14-day period.
