Gov. Kathy Hochul announced state parks, historic sites, campgrounds and trails operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation saw a record 88.3 million visits in 2024. Total visits statewide surged by over 4 million, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous record year in 2023.

Customers of Wegmans Food Market stores raised more than $2.5 million during the company's fall 2024 hunger relief checkout scanning campaign, known regionally as "Check Out Hunger" or "Together Against Hunger." This campaign allows customers to donate any amount at checkout, with 100% of the proceeds going to each store's local Feeding America food bank partner.

Kathy Hochul on Monday announced she has declared a state of emergency in the counties of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida and contiguous counties, that will allow the state to coordinate and share resources with local governments affected by the current lake-effect snowstorm.

The forest rangers flew out of Albany on Thursday morning for what is expected to be a two-week assignment.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office is actively investigating several complaints from victims who reported being robbed during an encounter with a person they believed to be an escort.

Shea's Performing Arts Center has kicked off the centennial celebration of Shea's Buffalo Theatre. In November 2024, Jeff Williams, a member of Artpark & Company's board of directors for over seven years, challenged his fellow board members to join together and match contributions from the community to celebrate Artpark & Company's 50th anniversary.
