Niagara Boundary and Mapping Services President Kenneth Lee Slaugenhoupt spent part of the past week laser-scanning the Frontier House. Working inside and outside the building, he used a FARO Laser Scanner, which, he said, is capable of collecting 488,000 measurements per minute with a tolerance of ±3mm (or 1/8 inch).

Congressman Chris Collins announced $84,202 in federal funding for the Olcott Fire Co. The grant was awarded through the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, which is designed to help first responders improve their capability to respond to fires and emergencies of all types.

PSC rescinds Charter merger approval

The New York State Public Service Commission on Friday revoked its approval of the 2016 merger agreement between Charter Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable Inc. because Charter, doing business as Spectrum, has, according to PSC - through word and deed - "made clear that it has no intention of providing the public benefits upon which the commission's earlier approval was conditioned."

Poloncarz, Erie County Public Works Department announce county plan to lease fleet vehicles

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Commissioner of Public Works William Geary have announced the county's intention to enter into a leasing agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management that would replace the county's owned vehicle fleet with vehicles leased from Enterprise. The agreement would rotate out 395 vehicles from the county fleet, primarily in the Public Works and Parks departments, over the next five years, along with 187 vehicles from the Erie County Sheriff's Office over the next four years.

On Thursday, the Erie County Legislature approved Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns' request for funding to make significant upgrades to technology at the clerk's office. The resolution passed the legislature 10-1, and approved the spending of $134,519 for technology and seating upgrades.
