Calling all stylists, paparazzi, and anyone who likes to volunteer; Lumber City Church, 383 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda, is looking for volunteers to be a part of Night to Shine. The church is in need of dozens of volunteers and monetary donations to make this prom for people with special needs a reality. The North Tonawanda church is one of nearly 500 churches around the world to host Night to Shine Friday, Feb. 8.

In basketball terms, when Niagara-Wheatfield and Grand Island stepped onto the hardwood inside N-WHS Tuesday night, the teams were battling to improve their record in the Niagara Frontier League and gain points for the sectional playoffs. As important as a win was, though, Tuesday night was a lot more than basketball. The Falcons and Vikings joined in the 2019 Hoops for Hope game, which was played in honor of a friend close to each school's heart - Julie Neville.

Four students in Niagara University's food and consumer packaged goods marketing program were selected to attend the Private Label Manufacturing Association Trade Show, held Nov. 10-13, 2018, in Chicago. They were among 50 students nationwide who were chosen to attend the event, which attracted more than 1,500 exhibitors from 50 countries, representing packaged goods including cosmetics, skin care, and health and beauty brands.

Art Festival fundraiser yields profits for hospital

Each August, the Mount St. Mary's Hospital maternity department assists with the annual hot dog sale at the Lewiston Art Festival. The event is a fundraiser coordinated by volunteers from the Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club. In a show of appreciation and community service, the club annually donates a portion of their proceeds to Mount St. Mary's.

For Brigette Callahan and Kristin Warham, their dream of creating a book about their love of Buffalo came true. The book, "Buffalo From A to Z, Come Take a Tour With Me," is a bright, colorful, 54-page guide around the City of Buffalo.
