AAA: Local gas prices continue to drop

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.26, no change from last week. One year ago, the price was $2.60. The New York average is $2.49, down 1 cent from last week. A year ago, the state average was $2.77.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking angler feedback on proposed fishing regulation changes for New York's Great Lakes. The proposed changes are designed to safeguard and expand certain fish populations while also enhancing anglers' continued enjoyment of one of the state's premier fisheries. The majority of the proposals are a direct result of DEC's work with anglers during the past year to identify desired outcomes for Lake Ontario's fishery.
NYS Homes and Community Renewal announces $1.3 million to improve homes & expand homeownership for 50 households throughout WNY

New York State Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas announced a total of $1.3 million will assist 50 households throughout Western New York. The funding is part of $28 million awarded to nonprofit organizations and municipalities that will support 929 households in rehabilitating and improving existing homes, increasing their access to affordable homes, and provide down payment assistance to help families achieve the dream of homeownership.

Lewiston-Porter Central School District receives stem grant, tech donation

The Lewiston-Porter Central School District has received a $990 STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation. Funds will support the Intermediate Education Center STEM program. In particular, monies will be used to purchase Ozobot robots to assist in teaching elementary students how to write code. This will provide students with opportunities to be creative thinkers and engage in higher level technology projects.
