Following the success of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's statewide photo contest for women hunters, Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the second phase of the "WomenHuntFishNY" contest to celebrate women anglers in the state. The contest officially opens on Monday, June 17, and continues through July 8.

Rumsey Shelter House restoration complete in Delaware Park

Officials from the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, joined by Bank of America, the Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Fund Standing Committee and several dignitaries, officially reopened the historic Rumsey Shelter House in Delaware Park. A $250,000 anchor grant from Bank of America to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy was matched by the Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Fund Standing Committee, allowing for the final phase of restoration of this historic and desirable park amenity.

On Monday, June 10, Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello will meet with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, state legislators, and the Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Commission (REDI) at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester to discuss Lake Ontario's rapidly rising water levels. Attendees will identify ways to strengthen and reinforce the lake's shoreline, and work to limit damage if water levels rise in the future.
