The south end housing initiative, a collaborative effort led by Niagara University through the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M. Institute for Civic Engagement to revitalize and expand housing in the south end of the City of Niagara Falls, invites residents of that area to "Gather as Partners" on Thursday, Nov. 21, for a Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Niagara Global Tourism Institute's TReC incubator, 616 Niagara St.

The fifth annual "Art Off The Wall" exhibition and fundraiser to benefit the Carnegie Art Center opens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, and will give visitors a unique opportunity to purchase original artwork. Local artists have donated works priced at $20 for the event.

Legendary musician Billy Joel will make his first appearance in Buffalo in 10 years, appearing at New Era Field at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. Joel's last appearance in Buffalo was March 9, 2010, with Elton John at KeyBank Center (then HSBC Arena). His last appearance at New Era Field was in 1994.

West Side Neighborhood Housing Services, Black Rock-Riverside Housing Services and Niagara Falls Neighborhood Housing Services are now part of a Western New York collective called NeighborWorks Community Partners. Brian D. Seaman has announced his candidacy for the office of Niagara County district attorney. Seaman served as an assistant district attorney in Niagara County from 2006-13, and prosecuted a wide variety of felony crimes, ranging from white collar financial crimes to violent crimes, including assaults, robberies, burglaries and homicides.

Niagara County Community College's search for a president is finished, according to board of trustees Chairman Bill Ross. The trustees, having interviewed four finalists for the position and chosen the applicant most suited, are sworn to confidentiality on the subject, but have sent their chosen applicant to the SUNY Board of Trustees and SUNY chancellor for approval.
