Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Duvan A. Berrio-Hernandez, no permanent address, was sentenced today in County Court by Judge Caroline Wojtaszek to serve the next 20 years in State Prison for his conviction of criminal sex act in the first degree. Berrio-Hernandez previously admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in Niagara Falls on Nov. 5 of last year.

The Council for Older Adults (COA) in Niagara County invites residents over age 55 to enter the COA amateur art exhibit. This event includes original artwork in oil, watercolor, sketches, needlework, photography, pottery, jewelry, sculpture and woodworking. Each artist must be at least 55 years old and may submit up to five pieces of art.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Brian Wallace, age 37, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea to murder in the second degree in county court on June 13. Wallace admitted to murdering 38-year-old Lauren Hayes in a motel room in Niagara Falls on Feb. 21, 2023.

The Heritage Christian Services Homes with Heart campaign has received tremendous support from the community since going public last year, and for its overall goal of $9.1 million. A ribbon-cutting event took place Wednesday at the home on Hoover Road in celebration of the campaign's progress of purchasing or rebuilding existing homes to support people in all phases of their lives.

Mount St. May's Hospital will host an open house at each of its Niagara County hospital locations, with activities for all ages. The Lockport Memorial Hospital Campus will host its event on from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the hospital at 6001 Shimer Drive, Lockport. Mount St. Mary's Hospital, at 5300 Military Road in Lewiston, will host its open house the following day, June 13, from 3-7 p.m.
