Niagara Falls shooting victim dies

The female victim from the shooting that occurred on Monday, June 26, at 4:30 p.m. on 19th Street in Niagara Falls has died as a result of her injuries. The victim is identified as 18-year-old McKenzie Munt of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) have issued an air quality advisory for all regions across New York state for Thursday, June 29. The weather forecast predicts an unhealthy (red AQI level - 151-200) air quality for Western New York and Niagara County.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Chevelle Sherrill, age 44, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty this morning to manslaughter in the first degree in the killing of Calvin Wroten, age 48, also of Niagara Falls, on Jan. 5, 2022. Sherrill admitted to shooting Wroten, who was her boyfriend, with a shotgun inside the apartment they shared.
