Niagara University will present the fourth in its "Transformative Visions" presidential speaker series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17. Soffiyah Elijah, executive director of the Alliance of Families of Justice and the first Black woman to serve as executive director of the Correctional Association of New York, will address "Criminal Justice, Policing, and Prisons." The food drive is part of the Fashion Outlets' parent company - Macerich - "Million Meals Challenge," an initiative to support local community food banks from coast-to-coast.

Pine Pharmaceuticals, one of the nation's leading drug compounding FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities, recently announced the company plans to expand its operations at Riverview Solar Technology Park in Tonawanda. Since opening a new facility in 2018, Pine Pharmaceuticals has hired 52 new employees bringing the total workforce to 85 full-time employees.

The Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Department converted its banquet facility into a virtual learning center for the children of active and social members to attend classes virtually, yet still in a routine, group setting. The fire chief and families felt it imperative that widespread contact be limited so that, in case of infection within the schools, there would be no increased risk of endangering the community or jeopardizing the firemen's ability to respond to calls.

The 2020 Veterans Day celebration at Niagara County Community College will transform from a traditional public ceremony to a multi-week campaign designed to benefit veterans within the Western New York community. To culminate the initiative, a tribute video, airing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, will be available to view on the college's website at www.niagaracc.suny.edu.
