The City of Niagara Falls, in collaboration with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Niagara Parks, Niagara Falls Illumination Board, Atlantis School For Gifted Youngsters, Haudenosaunee (Six Nations) Elders, and Niagara River Iroquois Dancers, will kick off the opening ceremony for Indigenous Peoples weekend at 6 p.m. Thursday at Terrapin Point in Niagara Reservation State Park.

11th annual Project H.O.P.E. gives Wheatfield family, community much-needed hand

Two weekends ago, a handful of volunteers joined the crews from Painters Plus to help out this year's winner of Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Paint Exteriors), an annual citywide contest that offers a free exterior home paint job to homeowners in need. Painter's Plus owner Jesse Gooch said this year's Project H.O.P.E., now in its 11th year, was perhaps its most unique yet.

Home haunt in North Tonawanda opens

The torrential rainfall hit in a line from Lewiston to Lockport, wreaking havoc on many areas below the escarpment. A resolution by Niagara County Legislator Christopher Robins calling on New York state to consider a redesign for Route 104 in front of Niagara University to allow better pedestrian access to the Shoreline Trail and Niagara Gorge was unanimously passed Tuesday night by the Niagara County Legislature.
