Castellani Art Museum (CAM) of Niagara University celebrates two powerful exhibition launches. "Survive, Remember Thrive, Armenian Traditions" in Western New York is on view from Feb. 2 to May 7, and a closing reception will be held on its final day. "Imaginary Worlds: Behind the Scenes with Niagara University Theatre" is on view from Feb. 9 to Aug. 13, and a reception will be held on Feb. 23 from 4:30-7 p.m.

The six-week workshop is scheduled on Thursdays, March 30, through May 4, from 1-3:30 p.m. at the North Tonawanda Public Library.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos invited the public to visit the DEC Bureau of Fisheries' angler outreach programs at the upcoming Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo. It was future U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr's daughter who put Niagara Falls on the map as the "Honeymoon Capital of the World," but the real reason why coupling may be occurring against the backdrop of a world wonder may have more to do with science than beautiful scenery.

Ransomville Speedway hosted a drivers registration meeting at the Ransomville Fire Co. on Sunday afternoon. Drivers had the opportunity to reserve pit pads, register their cars, purchase track memberships and DIRTcar licenses. Ransomville Speedway officials, including tech inspectors and the race director, were on hand to answer any questions.

Congressman Brian Higgins joined Niagara Falls City School District Superintendent Mark Laurrie on Friday to announce a five-year grant totaling close to $3.5 million. Awarded by the U.S. Department of Education and funded by the School-Based Mental Health Services program, the grant will be used to support school and community mental health programs while creating opportunities for local graduate students.

On Thursday, at 8:12 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a 911 call reporting smoke in the apartment building located at 136 Jackson St., in the Village of Youngstown. NCSO deputies and officers from the Town of Lewiston Police Department responded and confirmed smoke coming from the second floor of the building.

The Niagara Falls Police Department is searching for 15-year-old Lorelai R. Russell, who was reported missing on Tuesday. Lorelai was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with anime characters, and sweatpants. She is 5 feet, 2 inches tall; approximately 80 pounds; and possibly traveling out of state and considered vulnerable.

Parachute will use a "drop-off" process, with sites in Niagara Falls at Pinnacle Community Services, 1522 Main St.; and in Lockport, at the Lockport Library, 23 East Ave.

USA Niagara Development Corp., an arm of Empire State Development, approved a five-year contract with Destination Niagara USA to manage the Niagara Falls Convention Center, which started in January of 2022. As the lead tourism promotion agency for Niagara County, Destination Niagara USA seized the opportunity to increase sales and leverage existing strengths with their team and community partners.
