Twenty years in Italy and Alison Lytle has returned to her hometown - Lewiston. She left as a young girl following her dreams to become an artist and experience life. She has returned an accomplished artist, educator and the mother of two children.

The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston recently held its annual Valentine's Day dinner at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls. Attended by Lewiston Kiwanis members, their wives and guests, the affair saw the naming of the 2011 Kiwanian of the Year, which was awarded to President-elect Dr. Jerry Mosey.

On Tuesday, Feb. 15, members of the Niagara County Legislature presented a $10,000 check to the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council to help support its binational events happening in 2012-14. The presentation took place in front of the 1812-2012 Old Military Road sign on Main Street in Youngstown.

One week after Gov. Andrew Cuomo presented his executive budget, Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-138th/Lewiston, is renewing his call for mandate relief to be tied to a property-tax cap in order to ensure that Western New York residents receive real tax relief. Neither proposal was included in the governor's proposed spending plan issued on Feb. 1.

Village of Lewiston trustees plan to use their next four work session meetings to discuss several of the larger issues looming over the municipality. At 6 p.m. on Mondays, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4 and May 2, the Village Board will address topics including food collections, festivals on Center Street, the Piper Law Office Welcome Center, right-of-ways, the Water Pollution Control Center, the upper plateau and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.
