George Osborne, president of Artpark & Company, announced today the appointment of Carrie Veltri to the newly created position of director of development.
In making the announcement, Osborne said, "Artpark is very fortunate to have attracted a person of Carrie's experience and expertise to this position. Our search committee, headed by Artpark board member Jane Mogavero, conducted a national search for this very important position, and we found the best candidate right here in greater Buffalo. I am delighted that Carrie will be joining our staff."

Reid Capizzi, pictured, infant son of Mike and Laura Suess-Capizzi of Lewiston, has been selected as the baby who will be part of the dramatic re-enactment that will take place during the unveiling of the Tuscarora Heroes Monument on Dec. 19. The re-enactment will depict the burning of Lewiston by the British in 1813, when Lewiston citizens ran for their lives down Center Street to escape.

Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 is wrapping up its annual fund drive. This year, the company awarded a large-screen TV in a random drawing of all entries. Patricia Rose of Lewiston was the winner and is shown as Chief John Penzotti presents her with the TV.

My sweet corn was beautiful and delicious, and there was lots of it this season. Here in Niagara County we seem to always have the best veggies and fruits including our sweet corn, which is a fruit.

Michael Freedman, Niagara University's associate director of public relations and manager of online content, has been chosen as a "Spotlight Professional" by Buffalo Niagara 360, a program for young professionals that's coordinated by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.
Freedman was recognized during the Buffalo Niagara 360 Kickoff Celebration, which was held Thursday at Shea's Performing Arts Center.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Mike and his family," said Tom Burns, Niagara's associate vice president for PR, communications and marketing.
